Kodiak Broadband Push-to-Talk

Push-to-Talk Application

Regardless of the PTT device you use, the PTT application (client) for Kodiak-powered PTT on that device is setting the standard in capabilities, convenience, and benefits for instant communications.

PTT Handset & Device Clients

Talk Group Select

Talk Group Select allows you to select a single talk group to monitor exclusively. When enabled for a talk group, call activity from other pre-defined talk groups are not audible—giving you the control to listen to a dedicated "channel." One-to-one and Quick Group PTT calls that include you are still heard, and you're able to freely place outgoing calls to any talk group or contact.

Speakerphone Persistence

With Speakerphone Persistence, it's easy for you to set how all PTT calls are heard. Set your speakerphone to "always on" — all PTT calls will be audible from your device's speaker. Setting it to "always off" and calls will use the earpiece or accessory's speaker. You set it once, and forget it. Switching between settings can be done conveniently by tapping a single button while on a PTT call.

Broadest Device Selection

Kodiak-powered PTT offers the broadest handset and device options so you can choose the right PTT device to meet your personal and professional needs. Kodiak-powered PTT devices include low-cost feature phones, Android-based smartphones, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile handsets, and Windows-based PC's.

Privacy Setting

With the Kodiak-powered PTT privacy setting, you can control whether conversations are heard from the device's loudspeaker or are directed to the more-private earpiece. This feature is particularly convenient for security and surveillance applications that require discreet communications.

Special-Purpose Talk Groups

You can build special-purpose talk groups directly on your PTT device so you only communicate with the people you need to when you need to. No more "broadcasting" a message meant for one person to your whole organization. To create a talk group that you can use again and again, simply select PTT contacts from your address book (up to 30), name the group, and save it on your device.

Contact Capacity Display

A convenient contact capacity display makes it easier to manage your contacts and talk groups on your device. The capacity display indicates the total number of contacts so that you'll never lose track when adding to your contact list.

PTT Caller Availability

The real-time presence feature of Kodiak's PTT application lets you know if someone is available to talk before you push the button. Next to each contact there is an indicator indicating PTT user status including: Available, Busy (Do Not Disturb), or Offline (powered off), making it easy to determine who can talk.

Ample PTT Contact & Group Capacity

Kodiak-powered PTT application leads the industry with contact and group capacity including:

  • 1,300 Contacts in your PTT address book (1,000 managed by an administrator, 300 managed by the end user on the device)
  • 130 Talk Groups (100 managed by an administrator, 30 managed by the end user on the device)
  • 250 members per pre-defined group managed by an administrator and 30 members per pre-defined group managed by the end user

Fast Presence Switching

When you need to change your presence status from "Available" to "DND" (Do Not Disturb), simply select your status option from the PTT application's Home screen. Any change you make in your presence status shows up immediately on other users' devices.

Contact List Sort/Filter

See which of your co-workers is available quickly with a glance of your Contacts list. Kodiak-powered PTT allows you to sort and filter contacts based on availability, name, and/or phone number easily on your handset.

Automatic Contact & Group Synching

As an administrator within a Kodiak PTT system, the contact lists and talk groups that you create for the PTT users in your organization are automatically pushed out to your PTT devices in real time and wirelessly. Any subsequent updates made to contact lists and groups are also automatically synched with the users devices wirelessly and in real-time.

Hold PTT Calls for Cellular Calls

If you receive a regular cellular call while you are on a PTT call, you can put the PTT call on hold to answer the in-coming cellular call. Once you finish answering that cellular call, you can easily go back to the previous PTT call if it is still on-going.

Call History

The Kodiak PTT application home screen provides a convenient history list of the calls you've made and received. Using call history, it's easy to call someone back, review the call log, or send a call-me alert.

Missed Call Alerts

PTT users receive an alert each time they miss a call. The alert shows who tried to call and at what time. Users can easily initiate a call back, directly from the missed call alert.

Send Call-Me Alerts

If you want to call a contact whose presence status is "Do Not Disturb", you can send a Call-me alert (also called an Instant Personal Alert or "IPA") without the need to leave a voice mail or type a text message. Contacts instantly receive the Call-me notification even when they are not available to talk.

Quick-Group Calling

Call multiple contacts from your PTT address book at once for a quick-group call. All you need to do is select the contacts you want to call (up to ten) and then start the call. Your call will be transmitted to all the selected contacts simultaneously without the need for a pre-defined talk group or manually creating a temporary group first.

Fast Call Backs

If you receive a Call-me alert, you can initiate a call back directly from the alert. Simply press the "Call" button that is part of the alert or press a hard PTT button if it comes with your handset.

Idle Phone Call Receive

Even when your phone is idle, an incoming PTT call will immediately wake up your phone and allow you to hear the caller's voice. No action required. If you need to answer the call, just press the call button when the caller releases the call floor.

Intuitive and Easy to Use

Whether you're initiating a PTT call, sending a call-me alert, editing a contact/talk group, or changing presence status, it's easy to do and quick to master. The Kodiak PTT application is icon-based, intuitive, and designed to minimize the steps required to complete any action. Also, there's a built-in tutorial for situations when you need a quick refresher.

Talker Identification

When you are on a group call, the person talking will be identified on the screen of your device. If someone else in the group takes the floor, you will see the name of the next talker.

Set Your Own Favorites

Add the contacts and talk groups you call the most often to your Favorites. With all your Favorites collected in one place, the Kodiak PTT application makes it faster and more efficient for you to make PTT calls to the exact contact or group you want.
